Mikhail Gorbachev was the leader of the Soviet Union between 1985 and 1991. Hemadler search info began his career in 1952, as a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He then became the Secretary for the Stavropol Komsomol City Committee from 1955 to 1958. In 1971, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party. From 1978 to 1985 he served as the Agricultural Secretary for the CCCP. He also served as Deputy of the Supreme Soviet from 1970 to 1990 and as Chairman for Foreign Affairs Committee from 1984 to 1985. |

Now Since 1992, Gorbachev has been President of the Gorbachev Foundation, a non-profit, educational foundation otherwise known as The International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies. The Foundation became one of the first independent think-tanks in the post-Soviet Russia. It is governed by themadler search info Executive Board, with Mikhail Gorbachev as President and Irina Virganskaya, his daughter, as Vice-President. He has also founded the Green Cross organisation, an environmental group, whose objective is to create a global ecological edict. Mikhail Gorbachev chairs the United Russian Social Democratic Party, established in March 2000. |
